Hairy Biter

This is a carnivorious worm from the fictional planet New Phylum. Its an early branch in the evolutionary tree of the surviving multicellular animals of the planet.

It spends much of its time on the shallow sea floor in hot climates. It can swim but due to the viscosity of the water and its awkward shape, only barely. They use their simple legs, merely tubes of muscle, to move across the sea floor.

Its covered in venomous spines to protect it from other carnivores. It has three pairs of eyes to see all around, though they can only see shapes, colour, and movement, they can't see clear details. Chemoreceptors at the front of its face lead it to slow moving prey.

Its mouth is made of rings of muscle and sharp tooth-like growths. They tear up worm flesh to be eaten in chunks.
